Acai is a berry found in the amazon. This berry is sometimes referred to as “beauty berry” in Brazil because it makes your body look and feel good. This smoothie, or bowl, is healthy and has no extra or added sugars. This smoothie is made of all fruits and juices.
Here are loose instructions for acai bowls. This recipe serves about one or two people.
Step 1: Add Acai packet to blender
Step 2: Add frozen strawberries. (about 5, or as many as desirable)
Step 3: Add a banana
Step 4: Add water and a dash of orange juice OR apple juice
Step 5: Blend. If you want to have a ‘bowl’ the smoothie should be on the thicker side, but if you wish to make a smoothie, simply add more liquid and skip the next steps.
Step 6: Pour granola on top
Step 7: Add Goji berries and any other desired fruits on top
Step 8: Enjoy!
For extra sweetness drizzle honey on top. When choosing orange juice or apple juice keep in mind that apple juice is more traditional and orange juice will produce a more tropical taste. Things can be substituted and added. For example, on occasion, I enjoy adding frozen blueberries. Another delicious addition that can be made to this recipe is adding fresh fruits and berries on top. Bananas, blueberries, and strawberries are some of the best additions on top, when is season. This recipe is especially delicious (and nutritious) in the summertime and can be eaten as a snack, or even breakfast. Acai packets can be found at your local health food store, as well as the other items. Remember fruits that are in season are always the way to go!
